Gorilla trekking in Uganda: what to know before you go

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to roughly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. A trekking day begins with an early briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, followed by a guided walk through steep forest to find a habituated gorilla family.
Once you find the gorillas, you spend about an hour with them. For a longer encounter, the Gorilla Habituation Experience allows around four hours with a family that is still being habituated.
The minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years, and a reasonable level of fitness is needed. Visitors with a cold or flu are not allowed to trek, to protect the gorillas. Permit prices and rules can change, so please confirm current details with us when you book.
